Summary

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian Ministry of National Guard – Health Affairs, in close collaboration with medical and other healthcare team members demonstrates advanced nursing knowledge and applies this knowledge to the assessment, diagnosis, delivery and design of nursing care and interventions in the Surgical Department. Function under a collaborative management model where Medicine and Nursing jointly participate in decisions.

Education/Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Experience Post
- Qualifications:
  • Minimum Two (2) years of clinical experience post qualification
  • Minimum One (1) year in Emergency Department Acute Care
License:

Current and in good standing Nursing License/Registration (RN) to practice in country of residence

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe, efficient preoperative and postoperative care for surgical daycare patients.
  • Conduct focused assessments before surgery, confirm documentation, consent, and readiness for procedure.
  • Prepare patients for surgery, including IV insertion, medication administration, and patient education.
  • Monitor patients in the immediate post‑anesthesia phase, assessing airway, vital signs, pain, bleeding, and level of consciousness.
  • Administer prescribed medications, including analgesics and antiemetics, and evaluate response.
  • Identify early signs of complications and escalate concerns to the surgical or anesthesia team.
  • Deliver clear discharge instructions related to wound care, medications, activity limits, and follow‑up appointments.
  • Educate patients and families on postoperative recovery and warning signs that require medical attention.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate patient flow and safe discharge.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes.
  • Uphold infection prevention and control standards within the surgical daycare unit.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance patient safety and efficiency in day surgery services.
  • Support and mentor junior nursing staff and students within the unit.
  • Maintain professional accountability and adhere to RN scope of practice and hospital policies.
  • Perform additional unit related duties as required.
