Description UNIT NAME Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

• 40 beds
• Level III Newborn
• • 23 weeks & 500 grams
• • Convalescing baby up to 28 days post-conceptual age

• Severe prematurity.
• Respiratory distress syndrome
• Hemodynamically unstable newborns
• Major congenital anomaly
• Conjoined twins

• Continuous cardiorespiratory monitoring and advanced neonatal life support.
• Care of neonates receiving Invasive/ non-invasive respiratory support
• Pre & post-operative care
• Assist with invasive procedures, e g. paracentesis, thoracentesis, suprapubic
• catheterization, chest tube, UAC/ UVC/ PICC/ Arterial line insertion
• Assist with retina of prematurity examination
• Care for newborns enrolled in Bone Health Program
• Care for newborns receiving Phototherapy
• Care for newborns on Cooling Protocol
• Provide palliative care to newborns on comfort care status.
• Enteral feeding.
• Immunization
• Health education for parents.
• Assist and support with breastfeeding.
