Release Officer

Department: IT Change, Release, Configuration & Asset Management

Location: Riyadh

Core Responsibilities:

• Planning the release scope and defining the content, timelines, and requirements for each release.
• Developing and managing the release schedule and follow release calendar to provide support of all releases and coordinating schedules across multiple teams and projects.
• Coordinating resources and ensuring that all necessary resources, infrastructure updates, and third-party applications are aligned for the release.
• Ensuring quality assurance and overseeing the testing phases (e.g., performance, functionality, security) and confirming that all quality standards and test criteria are met before deployment.
• Identifying, mitigating risks and reviewing and developing contingency or back-out plans in case of failure.
• Managing the integrity of the live environment and protecting the production environment from adverse effects caused by new changes.
• Coordinating deployment and managing the actual rollout of the release to live environments, often using techniques like canary deployments to minimize risk.
• Monitoring and troubleshooting the release during and after deployment to ensure a smooth transition and coordinating incident response if issues arise.
• Conducting post-release analysis and leading reviews and retrospectives after implementation to gather feedback, document lessons learned and drive continuous improvement of the release process.
• Providing progress reports and regularly updating management and stakeholders on the progress, risks, and outcomes of releases.
• Managing relationships and coordinating work among various teams and resolving conflicts to ensure smooth collaboration.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Software Engineering.
• Experience in release management or IT project delivery, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating deployments across teams.
• Strong understanding of QA, risk management, and production deployments, ensuring smooth releases and post-release support.
• Technical experience in Java, Jira, Git Hub, Nexus, Ansible, Kubernetes, Dev Ops etc.
