4+ years of hands‑on experience with Microsoft SQL Server
, including clustering and major upgrade projects
We are seeking an experienced Database SQL SME to lead and support enterprise SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will act as a subject matter expert, responsible for database architecture, performance, availability, security, and successful execution of upgrade and migration initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Design, deploy, and manage highly available SQL Server architectures
. - Implement and support SQL Server clustering (Failover Cluster Instances, Always On Availability Groups).
- Lead and execute SQL Server upgrade and migration projects
. - Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning.
- Monitor database health, availability, and performance.
- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies in collaboration with backup teams.
- Troubleshoot complex database issues (L3 support and root cause analysis).
- Ensure database security, patching, and compliance with organizational standards.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and architecture designs.
- Work closely with application, infrastructure, and security teams.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2014 and above).
- Hands‑on experience with:
- Always On Availability Groups
- SQL Server upgrades and version migrations
- Strong knowledge of T‑SQL
, indexing, and performance tuning. - Experience with backup and restore strategies and DR planning.
- Knowledge of Windows Server and underlying infrastructure.
- Familiarity with virtualized environments (VMware / Hyper‑V).
- Experience supporting large‑scale, mission‑critical databases.
- Experience with SQL Server on Azure / hybrid environments
. - Power Shell or automation experience.
- Relevant certifications (MCSA / MCSE / Azure Database certifications).
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor team members.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ownership mindset and ability to work under pressure.
