Job Purpose

The Venue Technology Manager (VTM) is responsible for the planning, implementation, and operation of all technology systems within competition and non-competition venues. This includes ensuring that venue connectivity, technical equipment, and IT facilities are correctly deployed, tested, and operationally ready. The VTM acts as the main link between the central IT Department, venue operations, and vendors, guaranteeing that all technology services are delivered with the required quality and on schedule.

Venue

Technology Planning & Integration

• Lead venue-level planning for all technology systems, including structured cabling, connectivity, equipment rooms, and technical spaces.
• Coordinate with the Venue Department to integrate technology requirements into venue layouts, construction, and renovation plans.
• Ensure technology considerations are embedded early into venue design to support Games-time operations and legacy use.

Systems Installation & Readiness

• Oversee the installation, configuration, and commissioning of venue technology systems, including:
• Scoreboards and LED displays
• CCTV and surveillance systems
• Access control systems
• Public communication and announcement systems
• Manage the readiness of IT facilities at each venue, including power, internet connectivity, LAN/Wi-Fi coverage, and cybersecurity controls.

Vendor & On-Site Operations

• Act as the operational lead for all technology vendors and contractor staff working on-site at venues during pre-Games and Games-time periods.
• Coordinate on-site activities to ensure alignment with approved schedules, technical standards, and operational plans.

Venue Operations & Rehearsals

• Define and maintain the Venue Operation Plan (VOP) for technology, covering deployment, testing, live operations, and decommissioning.
• Plan and conduct Technical Rehearsals (TR) to validate venue readiness, in coordination with the IT Command Centre (ITCC) and OCA auditors.
• Ensure all venue technology systems are tested, stable, and operational prior to Games-time.

Incident Management & Escalation

• Ensure venue-level incident management procedures are implemented and followed.
• Escalate incidents to the IT Command Centre (ITCC) as required, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication.

Workforce & Capability Management

• Supervise venue technology staff and volunteers, ensuring sufficient coverage, training, and operational capability.
• Support training sessions, briefings, and simulations to ensure venue teams are fully prepared for Games operations.

Reporting & Legacy

• Produce venue-level reports on progress, readiness, risks, and issues for Technology PMO and LOC leadership.
• Contribute to post-Games reporting, including lessons learned and recommendations to support technology legacy and future events.
