Overview
Job Purpose Responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of SOPC’s safeguarding, education, and wellbeing programs, to ensure safe, respectful, and supportive environments for athletes, staff, coaches, minors, and all participants across SOPC, LOCs, and federations. The role establishes standards, drives prevention and education initiatives, manages wellbeing frameworks, and coordinates with investigations, legal, and sport stakeholders to uphold a culture of safety, empowerment, and trust.
SafeguardingFrameworks
- Develop, implement, and maintain safeguarding policies, procedures, and reporting pathways that clearly outline prohibited conduct, preventive expectations, and protection standards across SOPC, LOCs, and federations.
- Ensure safeguarding frameworks reflect global best practices (IOC, FIFA, Safe Sport, UK CPSU, ASOIF) and are adapted to the local cultural and operational context.
- Establish and maintain clear operational guidelines for handling concerns involving minors, vulnerable adults, athletes, and staff to ensure safe, timely, and appropriate responses.
- Collaborate with Corporate Excellence to ensure safeguarding policies are consistently interpreted and effectively operationalized.
- Monitor policy implementation across federations and training centers, identifying areas requiring enhanced support, training, or corrective measures.
- Implement support services for affected individuals, such as wellbeing resources, psychological assistance, or medical support, ensuring confidentiality and sensitivity in all interactions.
- Maintain structured case-management documentation to track actions, responses, and outcomes in alignment with SOPC’s integrity workflows.
- Support the Director with decision-making on safeguarding cases, and ensure proper escalation to committees, leadership, or external agencies where appropriate.
- Conduct post-case follow-up to check on athlete and staff wellbeing and identify systemic improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Design and deliver safeguarding education programs, in collaboration with SOA, tailored to athletes, coaches, staff, minors, parents, and volunteers, ensuring each group understands their responsibilities and reporting options.
- Develop targeted prevention materials, including workshops, e-learning modules, campaigns, and guidance documents, that promote a culture of respect, safe boundaries, and positive behavior.
- Lead annual safeguarding awareness campaigns (e.g., Safe Sport Week), ensuring strong visibility across training centers, federations, and competitions.
- Work with Athlete Performance Services to integrate safeguarding expectations seamlessly into athlete pathways and daily training environments.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through surveys, compliance indicators, and case feedback to inform continuous improvements.
- Develop wellbeing frameworks that address mental health, emotional resilience, psychosocial support, and team culture, ensuring they complement medical, psychology, and athlete lifecycle programs.
- Coordinate with performance psychologists, medical teams, and training-center staff to ensure early identification of wellbeing risks and timely referral pathways.
