Overview
Job Purpose:
Manage and oversee the Committee’s financial planning activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, to ensure optimal allocation and utilization of resources in alignment with SOPC’s strategic priorities and mission of building a sustainable sports ecosystem in Saudi Arabia. Lead the annual budgeting cycle, provide financial guidance to departments, and deliver data-driven insights to senior leadership to support informed decision-making while maintaining strong financial governance and discipline.
Specific Accountabilities
- Financial Planning & Budget Management
- Lead the development and consolidation of the annual organizational budget, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and approved financial targets.
- Manage the end-to-end budgeting cycle, including planning coordination with departments, review and challenge of assumptions, consolidation, and final budget submission.
- Coordinate quarterly forecasts and long-term financial plans across all functions to support strategic planning and financial sustainability.
- Monitor budget utilization across departments and ensure expenditures remain within approved allocations.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare periodic financial reports, forecasts, and performance analyses to support management decision-making.
- Conduct monthly variance analysis comparing actual performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying key drivers and recommending corrective actions.
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate initiatives, projects, and strategic investments, including major sports programs and events.
- Maintain oversight of revenue streams and expenditure drivers and establish relevant financial performance indicators to monitor organizational financial health.
- Stakeholder Support & Advisory
- Provide financial guidance and advisory support to departments during budget preparation and implementation phases.
- Support leadership by translating financial information into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Contribute to the financial evaluation of contracts, partnerships, and agreements with federations, sponsors, and vendors to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Systems, Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Oversee financial planning systems and reporting tools to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations, internal policies, and governance frameworks, while supporting internal and external audits.
- Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, improve cost efficiency, and implement best practices in budgeting and planning.
- People Management
- Lead and develop team members by promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous professional growth.
- Ensure adherence to SOPC policies, procedures, and organizational values across the team.
- Organizational Alignment
- Promote SOPC’s mission, values, and principles, ensuring transparency, integrity, and alignment with the Olympic Charter.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, government entities, and external partners to support cross-functional collaboration.
