Technical Director

Job Description

WSP is seeking an experienced Technical Director to provide senior‑level technical leadership on a major infrastructure programme in Riyadh. The role requires a strong technical background across large‑scale infrastructure projects, with the ability to oversee design, engineering coordination, delivery assurance, and technical governance within a PMCM environment. As the Technical Director you will act as the technical authority for the programme—ensuring quality, compliance, integration, and timely delivery of multidisciplinary infrastructure works.

• Provide senior technical leadership across all infrastructure disciplines (roads, utilities, structures, transportation systems, etc.).
• Serve as the technical authority, ensuring engineering solutions meet project standards, codes, and client requirements.
• Lead technical reviews and provide strategic recommendations to resolve complex engineering challenges.
• Oversee design management activities, ensuring coordinated, compliant, and constructible designs.
• Review consultant and contractor deliverables for quality, completeness, and alignment with programme objectives.
• Ensure integration between various design packages, infrastructure interfaces, and adjacent assets.
• Support the Project Director and wider PMCM leadership team on technical matters impacting schedule, cost, and quality.
• Implement technical governance frameworks, processes, and procedures across all project stages.
• Coordinate with construction management teams to ensure design intent is maintained through delivery.
• Engage with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to resolve technical issues.
• Provide authoritative guidance during technical meetings, workshops, and interface coordination sessions.
• Manage technical risk, change control, and decision‑making processes.
• Ensure all engineering works comply with international standards and Saudi regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement, technical quality assurance, and lessons‑learned processes.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout design and construction phases.
• Mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams and promote technical excellence.
• Support resource planning, capability development, and team performance management.
• Foster a collaborative, high‑performance culture aligned with WSP values.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline (Master’s preferred).
• 20+ years of experience in large‑scale infrastructure projects (roads, utilities, structures, transportation, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience in senior technical leadership roles within PMCM or PMC environments.
• Strong knowledge of design management, engineering processes, and construction methodologies.
• Experience working in the Middle East, preferably Saudi Arabia.
• Strong technical problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in fast‑paced programme environments.
• Strong understanding of project governance, risk management, and quality control frameworks.
