Specialist, protection & Metering

8 years relevant operational and maintenance experience in a utility with heavy industrial environment.

5 years experience of maintenance of protection of power plant and grid systems

Experience of working in a computerised maintenance environment, specifically involving the use of SAP or other computerised business management tools along with Project management experience

• The jobholder is responsible for providing technical support and expertise to the maintenance of protection relays & Meters to ensure uninterrupted supply of electric power to customers via the transmission and distribution network. The jobholder is challenged to keep abreast of technological developments and innovations in this field of specialization and recommend deployment of suitable upgrades to the company’s protection systems.
• Support and provide technical advice and expertise to protection and metering engineering activities by contributing to developing plans for maintenance and modification projects to ensure safe and continued operation of the electric power transmission and distribution system.
• Participate in responding to notified faults and failures in the Transmission and Distribution network by providing technical support and advice to field personnel for repairing, replacing, testing and calibrating affected protection systems and related circuitry including modifications to equipment to ensure safe and uninterrupted supply of electric power to customers.
• Contribute to developing the integrated preventive maintenance plan for protection and control systems and provide technical support and advice to technicians and engineers in carrying out such maintenance work.
• Review specifications, design and schematic submittals relevant to Protection and control systems for projects under consideration
• Witness commissioning and testing of control and protection relays
