As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you work with highly demanding data centre clients in an international, multidisciplinary environment. You deliver advanced mechanical designs up to detailed 3D and working documentation level, while operating safely within live data centre environments and contributing to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within Haskoning.
Main responsibilities- Manage and deliver mechanical work packages across multiple data centre projects, ensuring safe execution within live (brownfield) environments;
- Define project scope, design and management objectives, and deliver high-quality mechanical designs, technical specifications and documentation;
- Ensure effective risk management by executing assessments and overseeing testing and commissioning activities;
- Support project management through cost reviews, risk assessments, tender evaluations and vendor selection, including participation in factory acceptance tests and site activities;
- Maintain clear communication with contractors, vendors, regulatory authorities and internal and external stakeholders, while contributing to internal process optimisation and knowledge development.
- Ensure high-quality and timely information flow to contractors, vendors and regulatory authorities, including specifications, reports, and tender documentation;
- Support project management through cost reviews, risk management, testing and commissioning, vendor evaluation, and representation of Haskoning during factory and site acceptance activities.

As our new Design Manager (MCF/ Data Centres) you will become part of the team Mission Critical Facilities. Our global Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) team provides a multidisciplinary package of consultancy services for our data centre clients. We provide strategic, tactical, and operational advice to our clients, including colocation data centres, internet service providers, and telecom companies. Our team consists of colleagues with all kinds of different expertise.
For example, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, construction, civil, structure, building, architecture, fire safety, control engineering, and security technology. Together we use our knowledge and expertise to develop integrated designs for Data Centres.
- A bachelor's and/ or master's degree in mechanical engineering, providing the technical foundation required for high-complexity design and engineering decisions;
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and engineering, including demonstrable experience in data centre projects, ensuring senior-level capability in mission-critical and live environments;
- Strong knowledge of international and local design and construction standards, codes, regulations and industry best practices, enabling compliant, efficient and robust mechanical solutions within the KSA project context;
- A solid understanding of the daily operational business of data centre clients, essential for developing practical, reliable and maintainable designs;
- Fluency in English is required, with Arabic language skills considered a strong advantage for effective collaboration with local stakeholders and authorities.
