Risk Manager/Analyst
This role is conducted within the vision, mission, and strategic plan of the Insurance Authority. The Specialist safeguards policyholders and strengthens market stability by delivering robust prudential inspections of Health and Life insurance and Takaful undertakings. Reporting to the Inspection Team Lead, this role will execute rigorous on‑site and off‑site reviews, synthesize evidence, and track remediation to validate firms’ capital strength, governance and compliance with regulatory standards.
The Specialist also collaborates with internal supervisory units and external stakeholders to ensure seamless information exchange and coherent oversight throughout the inspection lifecycle. By maintaining disciplined documentation, escalating emerging risks and enriching knowledge assets, the position reinforces departmental quality assurance and drives continuous enhancement in supervisory methodologies.
- Review previous inspection reports, supervisory correspondence and key financial returns to help scope upcoming inspections.
- Compile and validate firm‑specific data requests (e.g., solvency ratios, technical provisions, reinsurance programmes) and track submission status.
- Prepare work papers, walkthrough templates and meeting agendas in line with departmental inspection manuals.
- Conduct assigned testing procedures such as sample policy file reviews, capital adequacy reconciliations and governance walkthroughs under close supervision.
- Document interview notes with senior management, actuaries and control‑function heads, ensuring factual accuracy and completeness.
- Escalate potential breaches or control weaknesses to the Inspection Team Lead in a timely manner.
- Maintain comprehensive electronic work‑paper files that satisfy the department’s quality‑assurance standards and International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) guidelines.
- Draft sections of the Inspection Findings Letter, including factual observations, supporting evidence and referenced regulatory clauses.
- Prepare weekly progress updates and KPIs for the Director of Prudential Inspection Health & Life.
- Log agreed corrective‑action plans into the supervisory tracking system and monitor target dates.
- Verify documentary evidence of remediation (e.g., board approvals, updated policies) before recommending closure of findings.
- Coordinate with Off‑site Monitoring to ensure continuous oversight of high‑risk entities.
- Capture lessons learned and contributed to the periodic update of inspection checklists and guidance notes.
- Participate in departmental training on emerging prudential regulations, Solvency II‑equivalent frameworks and actuarial valuation techniques.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Insurance, Business Administration, medical, or a related field.
- Relevant Professional Certificate is preferred
