Business Development Associate
Job DescriptionThe Business Development Associate role supports the contract development and manufacturing (CDMO) market with responsibility for identifying and qualifying new opportunities and acting as the first commercial contact for prospective customers. The role focuses on understanding customer needs, qualifying opportunities, and collaborating closely with Business Development and Marketing.
Role purpose- Serve as the primary initial contact for new prospects and inbound leads, shaping their first commercial experience with the organization.
- Understand customer needs and project scope to determine fit with the company’s services portfolio and route qualified opportunities to Business Development.
- Help expand awareness of the organization’s capabilities across modalities.
- Research target accounts and market segments using diverse information sources to map stakeholders, understand pipelines, and spot new business opportunities.
- Proactively identify, nurture, and prioritize opportunities in small‑molecule and biologics, increasing visibility of discovery, development and manufacturing services.
- Manage the early deal lifecycle: engage prospects, clarify requirements, coordinate confidentiality agreements, and ensure a structured hand‑off to Business Development team.
- Coordinate execution of CDAs/NDAs with internal contracting teams and maintain accurate records of status and next steps.
- Collaborate with Marketing to drive digital campaigns, conference follow‑up, and lead‑generation activities that build pipeline and brand recognition.
- Track performance against defined KRAs and report progress to management.
- Contribute to achieving revenue and growth targets across service lines, including drug substance development and manufacturing, formulation and analytical development, clinical trial material production, packaging and distribution, and commercial drug product manufacturing.
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a related field such as chemistry, or biology or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience.
Experience And Skills- At least 3 years of experience in the life sciences sector, ideally within pharmaceutical, CDMO, clinical, or bioprocessing environments.
- Strong drive, self‑motivation, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Professional proficiency in English (spoken and written), solid Excel skills, and the ability to deliver clear, concise presentations.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM platforms is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to travel as business needs require.
