Experienced Veterinary Assistant

Big Bend Animal Hospital is a well-established, progressive, state‑of‑the‑art practice located in Riverview, FL. We offer comprehensive care including Preventative Care, Surgery, Dentistry, Cold Laser Therapy, In‑House Diagnostics, Digital Radiology, Medical and Vacation Boarding, and Grooming services.

Veterinary Assistant responsibilities include pet restraint, triage, sample collection and analysis, diagnostic imaging, nursing of medical and hospitalized cases, medication administration, communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management. Must withstand unpleasant odors, noises, and potential exposure to bites, scratches, animal waste, and contagious diseases.

• Pet restraint and triage of incoming patients
• Sample collection and laboratory test processing
• Diagnostic imaging and radiograph evaluation
• Nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases
• Medication administration and anesthetic monitoring
• Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
• Surgical preparation and assistance
• Maintain a positive, team‑player attitude in a fast paced environment

• Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 1‑year experience preferred
• Compassionate, calm, strong communicator and multitasker
• Proficiency in sample collection, medical histories, laboratory tests, radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring is a bonus
• Self‑starter with a desire to advance knowledge and skillset
• Must be able to properly restrain pets and withstand unpleasant odors and noises

$17‑$18 per hour based on experience
