Monday – Thursday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm and Friday 9:00 am – 6:00 pm. (Every 8th week schedule:
Monday off;
Tuesday – Thursday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Friday 9:00 am – 6:00 pm; Saturday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm)

Position Summary: Performs patient care under the direction and supervision of the physician or Advanced Practice Provider in an ambulatory care setting.

- Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
- Participate in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients and family members.
- Collaborate with administrative and operations staff.
- Gather patient data through interviews and observation.
- Assist patients and families with examination preparation.
- Assist the physician or APP during examination and procedures.
- Demonstrate competency in specific tasks and skills defined by the practice.
- Provide routine treatments and administer approved medication types.
- Document patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education following Orlando Health and department‑specific policies.
- Act as liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule and provide information for specialty testing and/or specialty physician consultation.
- Process incoming and outgoing calls independently and professionally using sound clinical judgment.
- Enter medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under provider direction.
- Ensure compliance with Orlando Health and department‑specific policies, procedures, value statements, and commitment to excellence standards.
- Adhere to and demonstrate personal and patient safety practices, including infection control standards.
- Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Provide care and assess data appropriate to the age‑specific needs of patients in the assigned department and/or unit.
- Maintain awareness of medical/legal issues, patient rights, and regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
- Practice efficient use of supplies.
- Assist the business office with reception, scheduling, and discharge of patients as needed.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or verifiable applicable work experience in a patient care setting) required.
- Maintain current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
- If hired after January 1, 2015, maintain current certification by one of the following agencies within 6 months of hire:
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Health Career Association (NHA)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) – American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) or Nationally Registered Certified Advanced Medical Assistant (NRCAMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT) or American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
- Applicants with certification or registration from other agencies will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
