Before​/After Care Counselor

Job Description Essential Duties:

• Supervises and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated by the Aftercare Director.
• Takes attendance.
• Follows the provided schedule and curriculum program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students assigned.
• Creates an environment conducive to learning in a creative way and appropriate to the maturity level of the students.
• Prepares activities for the classes and shows evidence of preparation on a weekly basis, assists in snacks distribution and clean‑up.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Assists administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior, maintains order fairly.
• Maintains a professional attitude at all times.
• Participates in dismissal procedures at the end of Aftercare, ensuring each student leaves with appropriate adult,  even if pick‑up person known.
• Attends all staff meetings and recommended training programs as required.
• Supervises all activities to ensure safety at all times.
