Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers as a Cashier/Checker.

Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.

Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.

Adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work honestly to control loss.

Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).

Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.

Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.

Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.

Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.

Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues.

Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.

Create a welcoming environment for customers and assist with product inquiries.

Comply with all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.

Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.

Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.

Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.

Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
