Acts as an advocate for Native American patients in securing alternate resources such as Medicare, Medicaid, Department of Veterans Affairs, State Programs, Third Party Liability, and Children's Special Health Services, among others. Identify patients who may be eligible for alternate resources through the effective utilization of screening and interviewing methods. Works closely with all facility staff in the identification and utilization of all alternate resources available to the Native American population.

Assists families and individuals in applying for an alternate resource or resources. Interviews patients using established criteria. Follows up on all assigned pending applications. Works closely with the Social Security Administration on local and regional levels. Works closely with Tribal TANF and DFS to establish eligibility for alternate resources. Works closely with Tribal Medicaid offices and 1st Impressions / patient registration staff.

Collaborates with Social Services and other entities that may assist in the development of a registry of eligible patients. Assists patients/families with applications for alternate resources, including traveling to their place of residency to collect required documentation; helps arrange transportation and interprets the rules and regulations set forth by programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. Works closely with families and agencies as an advocate for the patient to guarantee they are not discriminated against.

Must be willing to become a Certified Application Counselor through ACA Marketplace. Other duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the department.
