The Riverside Transit Agency is recruiting to fill current full‑time vacancies in the Maintenance Department. This position performs routine service on all Agency vehicles and 40' buses. Applicants must be available to work all weekdays, including weekends, holidays, and all shifts. This position works an overnight shift, typically starting between 8:00pm-10:00pm. Changes may involve assignment at either Riverside or Hemet locations.
This recruitment is to create an ELIGIBILITY LIST to backfill the Servicer role as vacancies occur.
- Fueling
- Inspection of all fluid levels
- Cleaning of interior and exterior surfaces
- Replacement of worn items such as wiper blades, light bulbs and lenses
- Changing of tires
- Changing engine oil and transmission fluid
- Lubrication
- Moving vehicles and buses around maintenance facilities
Additional duties include janitorial services as required, running errands, maintaining proper records, pulling vaults from revenue vehicles and replacing them with empty vaults, storing filled vaults in coin counting room, posting and removing rider alerts and car cards on revenue vehicles, maintaining records of vault/fare box condition and vehicle assignment, and other related tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience- Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
- Preferably one year experience in general labor or janitorial work. Must be able to perform heavy manual labor (ability to lift up to 50 lbs), learn and follow procedures, and follow oral and written instructions.
At the time of application a current valid non‑restricted Class C Driver's License is required. Additionally, a DMV K4 drivers' history printout (issued not more than 30 days prior to date of application) must be provided with the application. You must obtain a Driver’s Record Report the DMV kiosk/online history printout process.
Applicant must obtain a Class B permit by first day of employment and be able to obtain a Class B license and medical certificate within ninety (90) days of employment.

Driving History Requirements- Any suspensions within the past five (5) years.
- May not have more than three (3) points within the past three (3) years.
- No two (2) point violations within the past three (3) years.
- No accidents which the applicant contributed to cause within 3 years from your application date.
- Have appeared in court as required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Minimum 6 months of driving history.
- Must be available to work rotating shifts which include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Candidates will be required to pass job related skill(s) test(s). Testing may include, but is not limited to:
- Written test(s)
- Oral test(s)
- Practical test(s)
- Past year performance record will be reviewed:
- Discipline other than attendance & accidents - only 1 written warning in last year. Excludes accidents and attendance, which are described below.
- Must have zero additional disciplinary actions, i.e. no:
- Further Written Warnings
- Final Warnings
- Suspension
- Must have no more than 1 Late Arrival within the last 12 months.
- Must have no more than 1 Attendance Point in the last year.
- Preventable Accidents - only 1 written warning within the last year.
- Performance Appraisal ratings must be at or above “Meets Standards.”
- Applications to transfer to a different department will be accepted once the 120 day probationary period has been successfully completed.
- Driving record review (pass/fail).
- Written Exam (pass/fail).
- A performance exam (pass/fail).
- Final ranking is determined by the oral interview examination 100% weight.
Failure to provide a current Driver’s Record Report (issued not more than 30 days prior to date of application) will disqualify your application.
