The Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) is recruiting for full‑time Community Bus Drivers to operate our 40′ or less transit bus fleet and provide safe, dependable, and courteous public transportation to the RTA service area. Drivers will work at our Hemet location with possible assignments at the Riverside Division, available 7 days per week, including holidays and all shifts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate Agency transit and support vehicles in both revenue and non‑revenue service.
  • Maintain an established schedule along a designated route.
  • Be available to operate Agency buses on pre‑assigned shifts.
  • Be responsible for the safety of passengers.
  • Collect proper fares according to Agency tariffs.
  • Provide transit information to passengers.
  • Collect patronage and revenue data as assigned.
  • Prepare report forms and report equipment defects or failures.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Stable work history.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Minimum age 18.
  • Excellent driving record.
  • Minimum 12 months of driving history.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Class B Permit/License with endorsements and a current medical certificate.
  • Possession of an accurate railroad‑type watch or approved equivalent.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
  • Current, valid, non‑restricted Class C Driver’s License and a DMV Driver's Record Report issued no more than 30 days prior to application.
  • Proof of a Class B Permit with passenger and air‑brake endorsements or a current Class A or B License with the proper endorsements.
  • Maintain a valid Class B Driver’s License, proper endorsements, and a current medical certificate for ongoing employment.
SELECTION PROCEDURES

The application process includes a driving record review (pass/fail) followed by an oral interview. The final ranking is determined entirely by the oral interview (100% weight). Failure to provide a current drivers record report, issued not more than 30 days prior to application, will disqualify the applicant.

RTA complies with state and federal obligations to make reasonable accommodation for applicants and employees with disabilities. The Human Resources Department asks that accommodation requests be advised prior to the first test part. RTA requires all new employees to provide documentation to establish both work authorization and identity as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
