The Pool Manager is a seasonal/temporary position that oversees the daily operations of the aquatics programs. This role supervises lifeguard staff, ensures patron safety, maintains a clean and safe pool facility, and manages staff schedules and training. Qualified candidates will have prior lifeguard experience and certifications and be able to lead a team in providing a fun and safe aquatic experience for the community.

• Program Duties:
• Plans and schedules the operation of the swimming pool.
• Assigns and reviews the work of subordinates at the direction of the Recreation Coordinator/Supervisor/Manager.
• Assists the Recreation Coordinator/Supervisor in scheduling, conducting in-service training programs, and conducting alertness tests for lifeguards and staff.
• Supervises the development of aquatics programs.
• Actively scan the pool area to identify potential hazards and prevent accidents.
• Watches for unsafe conditions or practices and recommends corrective actions.
• Maintain a safe environment for participants and staff.
• Assist with swim lesson registration.
• Enforces departmental rules and regulations governing the use of the swimming pool.

• Emergency Response:
• Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer CPR and first aid as needed.
• Respond effectively to emergencies following established protocols.

• Facility Maintenance:
• Maintain order and cleanliness in the swimming area(s).
• Participating in keeping the area around the pool clean and free from hazards.
• Assist with basic maintenance tasks.

• Water Quality:
• Report any water quality concerns to the Recreation Coordinator/Supervisor.

• Professional Development:
• Attending and completing applicable online/in-person training sessions and orientations.
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on new tasks.

• Additional Notes:
• Regular and timely attendance is mandatory.
• Scheduled work hours may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).

Desired Skills & Experience

• Three seasons experience as a Lifeguard and Instructor, one season comparable in type/level to at least that of a Lifeguard/WSI.

NOTE:

One season is equivalent to 400 working hours.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Strong Communication skills are essential for this role.
• Effectively interpret and apply information from various documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write clear and concise reports.
• Excellent communication skills to provide clear instructions and directions to patrons.
• Bilingual is a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Basic math skills:
