Overview
Job Summary: The Service Technician II is responsible for performing intermediate-level diagnostics, repairs, and part replacements on transit buses with limited supervision. This role supports the OEM service and warranty team by executing campaign repairs, assisting with pre-delivery inspections (PDI), and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues. A Technician Service II is expected to perform the necessary research using service manuals, standard practices, or engineering guidance to effectively diagnose and repair vehicles in accordance with OEM standards.
This role requires demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude and supports complex troubleshooting and repair tasks. The position also serves as a mentor to entry-level technicians.

- Perform mid-level repairs and part replacements on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Assist with and conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and repairs to ensure vehicles meet OEM standards.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues using service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
- Use diagnostic software and equipment to identify faults and determine repair needs.
- Repair or replace components such as pumps, valves, relays, hoses, brakes, and wiring.
- Complete service documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist with installation of upgraded systems or new components.
- Maintain safe work practices and proper handling of tools and materials.
- Provide guidance and support to Technician I team members.
- Participate in training to stay current with OEM technologies and procedures.
- Travel Requirement:
This role requires regular travel, including air travel, to customer sites, vendor locations, or company facilities. Approximate travel: 70% of the time. - Must maintain all necessary identification and documentation (e.g., valid driver’s license, government-issued , or passport) to travel by air for work.
- Intermediate knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and repair techniques.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
- Proficiency using diagnostic tools and repair software.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in heavy-duty vehicle systems (diesel and CNG engines, transmissions, air brakes, suspensions, electrical systems, etc.)
- Ability to perform calculations, measure tolerances, and interpret schematics.
- Ability to safely operate power tools, hand tools, and heavy-duty equipment such as hoists or cranes.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including overnight stays and emergency response assignments.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2–4 years of relevant mechanical and electrical repair experience required.
- Valid driver’s license required

While we do not typically hire at the top of the salary range, initial offers are based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience, with opportunities for growth and increases over time.
The hiring range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00 per hour.
