General Purpose

The Retail Associate ensures customers have a positive shopping experience. The associate greets all customers, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The role may involve tasks as assigned in all store areas, and additional tasks to meet customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions
  • Practice safe behaviors and maintain a safe, secure shopping environment.
  • Stay aware on the sales floor, clear egress to emergency exits, and report unsafe conditions.
  • Treat all customers and associates with respect and professionalism.
  • Assist customers—register‑trained, knowledgeable, and courteous—and greet them with eye contact, a smile, and a “hello.”
  • Respond promptly to customer service calls and handle challenges courteously.
  • Represent and support the Ross brand.
  • Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company dress code.
  • Complete daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor with urgency.
  • Understand loss prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity, safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card and merchandise.
  • Follow all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) and cash handling policies and maintain accuracy with bankable tenders.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment (PDTs, registers, PC).
  • Stand, walk and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop regularly.
  • Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling and lifting more than 20 pounds.
Base Pay

Base pay range: $16.50 – $17.00 per hour. The range is dependent on experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority and location.
