Position description

The Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position. This is an open research area position, and the department welcomes applicants from all areas of chemical and environmental engineering who demonstrate strong potential for impactful research and interdisciplinary collaboration. The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding.

Salary will range from $69,073 to $82,836 annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience, in accordance with University of California guidelines see: (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..

Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemical and Environmental Engineering or a closely related field by the time of the appointment, with a solid background of organic chemistry to conduct molecular synthesis, separation, and characterization with comprehensive organic spectroscopic approaches. Publication record of organic molecule synthesis (for example, research articles in the Journal of Organic Chemistry, Organic Letters, or similar journals) is required.

The candidate must also have research experience with water pollutant degradation or detection. Note that the background with solid-phase inorganic materials or heterogeneous catalysts does not fit this position. Preferred qualifications include experience in designing and implementing research protocols, managing quality data acquisition, conducting data analysis, mentoring students, and contributing effectively in collaborative research environments.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Must hold a PhD in Chemical and Environmental Engineering or a closely related field by the time of the appointment.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates should have a solid background of organic chemistry to conduct molecular synthesis, separation, and characterization with comprehensive organic spectroscopic approaches. Publication record of organic molecule synthesis (for example, research articles in the Journal of Organic Chemistry, Organic Letters, or similar journals) is required. The candidate must also have research experience with water pollutant degradation or detection. Note that the background with solid-phase inorganic materials or heterogeneous catalysts does not fit this position

Candidates with the following additional expertise and experience are preferred: (1) hands-on experience with liquid- and gas-phase chromatography and high-resolution mass spectrometers, (2) knowledge and interests in coordination chemistry.
