- Riverside University Health System (RUHS) Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse II to join our Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Older Adults Full Service Partnership (FSP) team in Riverside. Our mission is to deliver high-quality behavioral health services that enhance the well-being of the older adult members in the community. In this role, the Registered Nurse II will be responsible for supporting our field-based FSP program, clinics, and psychiatrist.
This position focuses on ensuring members follow through with psychiatric care, treatment plans, facilitating medical linkage, coordination of care and other duties as assigned to promote continuity of care and improve health outcomes. A valid CA Driver License is required.
- A valid CA Registered Nurse license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate issued by the American Heart Association.
9/80 – 80 hours worked over nine (9) days in a two-week period, with every other Friday off.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions and within the full scope of the Nurse Practice Act.
- Assist physicians in administering treatments, performing medical examinations, and conducting diagnostic tests and surgical operations.
- Administer prescribed medications, chart patient treatment, and record significant changes in condition and overall progress.
- Provide counseling and advise patients, families, and significant others regarding special medical problems and proper healthcare methods.
- Instruct patients in carrying out physician orders and may transcribe physician orders to working records.
- Orient and train new staff, residents, medical students, and nursing students as needed.
- Participate in quality assurance reviews and may act as a team leader or relief charge nurse.
- Assign and monitor the work of subordinate nursing personnel and participate in committee activities.
- Triage patients by reviewing admission charts and merging patients into the patient assignment or clinic flow at the appropriate time and place.
- Coordinate and monitor patients through the hospitalization process utilizing physicians, primary care nurses, and third-party payors to maintain quality care and fiscal responsibility.
- Review the post‑hospital care plan with the patient/family, establishing contact regarding time frames and responsibilities, and follow plan through a discharge.
Education:
Successful completion of the education required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or a health‑related field may be required for some positions.
Experience:
Completion of one year as a Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital, mental health setting, clinic outpatient setting, or healthcare agency program. Experience gained as an Interim Permit Nurse may be credited toward meeting the required experience. Evaluations and references must show proficiency of practice as a Registered Nurse.
Knowledge of current principles, techniques, and procedures used in professional nursing; medical terminology and patient care routine appropriate to clinical setting; medical instruments and equipment; the uses and effects of medicines and narcotics; community resources available to provide patient care and follow‑up; federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing professional aspects of nursing; identification of potential discharge needs; payor source documentation requirements and governmental regulations affecting reimbursement.

Must possess and maintain a current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. Public Health Nurses must possess and maintain a Public Health Nurse certificate within six months of hire. Possession of valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificates issued by the American Heart Association. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License may be required.
