Game Changers Leadership Institute (GCLI) is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2018 dedicated to fostering leadership and empowerment among BIPOC youth in the Inland Empire, with aspirations for statewide expansion. Our mission is to provide a platform for young leaders to develop skills, express passions, raise voices, and authentically address systemic change.
Responsibilities- Mentor BIPOC youth, providing leadership development and community impact guidance.
- Supervise program staff, develop and implement culturally relevant curriculum and programming.
- Oversee budget and material procurement, ensuring resources align with program goals.
- Maintain safety and compliance management, including reporting requirements.
- Recruit diverse cohorts of young leaders, promoting inclusivity and equity.
- Engage program alumni, supporting ongoing mentorship and networking.
- Facilitate discussions and activities that promote personal and professional development.
- Support staff scheduling, providing 1:1 support for programming needs and professional development.
- Ensure program adherence to safety protocols and compliance requirements.
- Log mentor activities, conduct reporting, and perform general administrative duties as needed.
- Collaborate with GCLI leadership to manage daily operational activities.
An essential prerequisite is a profound understanding and comfort engaging with Black youth, the Black community, and other communities of color. The successful candidate must have in‑depth knowledge of racial and social justice issues, be familiar with transformative justice or abolitionist ideologies, and demonstrate a commitment to promoting inclusivity, equity, and social justice in all interactions and initiatives.
Requirements- Experience working with youth, particularly BIPOC youth, in mentoring or counseling roles.
- Strong understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities facing BIPOC youth in California.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to up to 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends as needed, with occasional short notice.
- Passion for empowering youth and facilitating positive community change.
- Punctual, respectful, and culturally competent.
- Strong history of staff supervision and administrative management.
- Proven fundraising, grant writing, and networking skills.
- Ability to draft staffing schedules and accommodate sick time and PTO requests.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required, or commensurate experience. Master's preferred.
- 24 years of age or older.
- Minimum of 2+ years experience and certifications in youth development, counseling, leadership, or community engagement.
- Familiarity with the Riverside community and surrounding areas, including education, juvenile justice, and social services resources.
- Strong understanding of youth development principles, trauma‑informed care, and culturally responsive practices.
- Knowledge or experience in disaster preparedness and emergency response protocols; CPR training is a plus.
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or another secondary language is a plus.
- Passion for inclusion, diversity, and creating safe spaces through social change.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, leading by example.
- History of supervising a small team, including performance development and documentation.
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills to build trust with youth from diverse backgrounds.
Proficient computer skills and comfort with technology, including Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Keela or similar CRM, Slack, Zoom, and Canva.
