Painter II
Painter II is responsible for surface preparation and application of primers and topcoats on manufactured components and assemblies in accordance with company specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards. This role ensures high quality finishes while maintaining safety, environmental, and production requirements.
Essential Duties- Prepare surfaces for painting (cleaning, sanding, masking, degreasing, blasting if required)
- Mix and apply primers and topcoats per manufacturer specifications
- Operate spray equipment (HVLP, conventional, airless systems)
- Ensure proper film thickness and coverage
- Follow paint booth procedures and flash/cure times
- Inspect painted surfaces for defects (runs, sags, orange peel, fisheyes, dry spray, etc.)
- Perform touch-ups and rework as required
- Moderate troubleshooting of defects and working on complex assemblies
- Maintain paint equipment and perform routine cleaning
- May support with training others
- Read and interpret work orders, technical drawings, and paint specifications
- Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) for traceability
- Comply with all safety requirements including PPE and hazardous material handling
- Support continuous improvement and 5S initiatives in paint area
- Knowledge of epoxy, polyurethane, or solvent-based coatings
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work with hands for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 25lbs with or without assistance
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools
- Ability to read and follow basic drawings or work instructions with support
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow directions
- Reliable attendance and a strong focus on safety
- 3-5 years of experience industrial painting experience
- Experience in manufacturing, automotive, heavy equipment, or transit vehicles preferred

While we do not typically hire at the top of the salary range, initial offers are based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience, with opportunities for growth and increases over time.
The hiring range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00 per hour.
