Position Summary/Objective

This position leads all manufacturing activity at a single facility and ensures outstanding performance and employee experience levels are achieved.

Reports to the Director of Manufacturing with Production and Sanitation Supervisors reporting to this role.

Primary Responsibilities Safety & Quality Leadership
  • Champion a Safety and Quality First culture, ensuring all employees understand and uphold high standards for producing safe, high-quality food.
  • Lead all food safety, quality, and regulatory programs, including GMP, HACCP, CFIA, BRCGS, and related internal systems.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks, partnering with Quality Assurance and EHS to ensure strong sanitation, food safety, and environmental practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety performance, incident prevention, and product integrity while maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant workplace.
People & Culture
  • Uphold and live the Riverside values on a day-to-day basis
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing plant team that emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and ownership of plant goals.
  • Create and sustain a culture aligned with Riverside’s values, promoting engagement, open communication, and recognition.
  • Build leadership capability through mentoring, training, and ongoing performance development.
  • Drive succession planning and workforce development to ensure a strong talent pipeline that supports long‑term company growth.
Operational Excellence
  • Oversee all aspects of plant performance — including production and sanitation — to meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Improvement tools to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Implement strategies that optimize capacity, drive throughput, and strengthen reliability.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Planning, R&D, Supply Chain, and Engineering to deliver on‑time, high‑quality products.
Strategic Leadership & Planning
  • Develop and execute a long‑term operational strategy aligned with Riverside’s business goals and sustainability commitments.
  • Lead/support capacity planning, capital investment, and automation initiatives to support business growth.
  • Use data‑driven insights and KPIs to guide decision‑making and improve performance.
  • Contribute to company‑wide strategy discussions as a key member of the operations leadership team.
Financial & Resource Management
  • Manage the plant’s operating budget and capital expenditures to ensure cost‑effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Optimize use of labour, materials, and energy while maintaining product integrity and safety.
  • Support sustainability goals by reducing waste, improving resource efficiency, and minimizing environmental impact.
Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Operations Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in food manufacturing or CPG environments.
  • Proven track record of improving safety, quality, and operational performance.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, BRCGS, and food safety regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, continuous improvement, and cross‑functional leadership.
