Profile: Criminal Defense Attorney (Spanish-speaking preferred).

Successful, growing criminal defense and professional license defense law firm serving Southern California is seeking an exceptional criminal defense attorney to join our team. The firm has three office locations for client meetings in Los Angeles, Orange County and Riverside.

Responsibilities
  • The firm staff handles client marketing, intake, screening, and retainer agreements for attorneys. Firm attorneys are laser-focused on providing excellent customer service and solving client challenges.
  • The candidate will manage their own caseload, and court calendar once hired that can include handling all phases of criminal defense in Riverside & San Bernardino County courts, including:
  • Pre-filing representation with law enforcement.
  • Prepare for and attend arraignments, readiness conferences, probation revocations, sentencing, etc.
  • Effectively litigate pre-trial hearings and motions (e.g., preliminary hearings, PC 1538.5 motions, PC 995 motions, etc.).
  • Negotiate plea bargains or negotiated dispositions at the misdemeanor and felony readiness conferences.
  • Prepare for and conduct jury and bench trials.
  • Counsel clients as to their legal defenses, constitutional rights, and strategies for their cases.
  • Consistently communicate with clients as to the status of their case.
  • Conduct research and draft pleadings, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and motions.
  • Conduct administrative DMV hearings for DUI cases.
  • Prepare for and conduct TRO trials (both on behalf of Petitioner and Respondent).
  • Conduct client meetings and recommend strategies; communicate with prosecutors, witnesses, and experts.
  • Post-conviction relief.
Pay and Benefits
  • Based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications
  • Min 1 year of criminal defense experience, including felony cases.
  • Criminal trial experience is a plus.
  • Experience handling preliminary hearings.
  • A former prosecutor or public defender a BIG plus.
  • Experience in criminal courts is a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
  • CA bar license with no disciplinary record.

  • Outstanding command of the courtroom.
  • Excellent legal research skills, persuasive writing skills, and verbal communication skills.
