Overview

Summary Provides administrative and facilitative support for the daily simulation-based learning activities and Learning Environment technical functions within the College of Nursing (CON) Learning Environment, under the direction of the Director of Simulation and Standardized Patient Program and Associate Dean of Learning Environment & Innovation.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborates in the development of simulation-based instructional and training components for faculty, students, and standardized patients.
  • Engage in innovative initiatives to enhance learning experiences, including piloting new technologies, tools, and creative solutions.
  • Prepares simulation equipment and other learning technologies to support learning activities.
  • Manages the maintenance of simulation technology and equipment.
  • Provides training and orientation of new simulation technicians.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot technical issues within the learning environment, escalating complex issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Stay current with emerging simulation and learning environment technologies, suggesting improvements or new opportunities for growth
  • Maintains simulation equipment and departmental records.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to office staff and student workers, in order to complete work assignments.

  • Ability to maintain an inventory check system.
Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers;

and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university; or one to two years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification as a Certified Simulation Operations Specialist (CSOS) is preferred; must be obtained within two years of hire.
