The full salary range for the Occupational Health EMR Compliance Specialist is $68,507.28 - $ annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is from $68,507.28 - $75,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
The Occupational Health EMR Compliance Specialist serves a dual function within UCR’s Occupational Health Program, providing leadership and coordination in two critical areas: electronic medical record (EMR) compliance and the Campus Animal Occupational Health Program. The role requires close collaboration with Environmental Health Safety and Risk Management (EHSRM) leadership, Information Technology, Occupational Health providers, Researchers, Biosafety Staff, Student Health Services, and third-party vendors to ensure that programs are compliant with federal, state, and UC policies, including HIPAA, CMIA, Cal/OSHA, and IACUC requirements.
The incumbent leads the coordination and implementation of UCR’s Occupational Health EMR system, ensuring proper access controls, privacy safeguards, and accurate documentation; and providing administrative and analytical support to improve EMR workflows. This role combines technical system support, regulatory compliance oversight, user training, and data analytics to ensure secure, efficient, and compliant operation of Occupational Health’s EMR system, including support for system upgrades, incident response, and continuous process improvement.
As coordinator for the Animal Occupational Health Program, the incumbent facilitates health and safety clearances for individuals working with animals in vivaria, ensuring readiness for animal protocol engagement in accordance with UC and IACUC policy. The position also supports continuous improvement of program operations and procedures and serves as a point of contact for participants navigating the clearance process.
- Educational Requirements
:
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required - Experience Requirements
:
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience. Required;
Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare compliance, EMR system administration, occupational health program support, or research oversight in an academic or clinical setting. Required;
Experience using Enterprise Health or similar occupational health EMR systems including health data systems; EPIC, PNC. Preferred - Special Conditions

Solid, comprehensive working knowledge/understanding of a specific EH&S field including related laws and regulations, and general understanding of all EH&S fields. Working skills in the appropriate use of technology and relevant scientific equipment as required. Solid organizational skills to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple projects. Understanding of patient confidentiality, including the ability to conduct interviews without violating confidentiality; keeping shared information safe.
Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively in a diverse environment. - Preferred Qualifications
