Overview
Clinical Lab Scientist II - WD - Riverside, CA
, Monday to Friday, 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
Pay range: $52.55 - $58.40 per hour. The employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours on second shift and 15% for some or all hours on third shift. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications. Market and organizational factors are considered. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.

Responsibilities
- Perform the most complex clinical tests consistently and independently, following required procedures and policies. Implement newly introduced tests that require defined skills.
- Oversee preparation of reagents, media, stock solutions, standards, and controls. Test new reagents or controls and evaluate usefulness based on standard criteria.
- Determine specimen acceptability for testing per established criteria. Calculate results using manual or computerized methods. Enter results accurately and monitor reports for accuracy; adhere to turnaround times.
- Evaluate the acceptability of routine and complex analyses before releasing patient reports. Recognize and respond to critical values or unusual results and document actions.
- Manage scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of laboratory equipment; evaluate instrument performance through checks and calibration procedures.
- Perform QC and calibrations with the required frequency and evaluate results for acceptability of release.
- Select and evaluate control materials, initiating corrective actions when test systems fail to meet established criteria.
- Accurately perform and record proficiency testing. Detect and correct technical and operational problems; notify supervisor and contact manufacturer or field service if needed.
- Ensure accurate tracking and labeling of reagents and supplies; maintain a safe, neat work area.
- Train staff on routine and complex procedures; support training programs where applicable.
- Assist supervisor with updating and maintaining the computer database for testing responsibility and department needs.
- Collaborate with Group Lead and Supervisory staff to schedule workloads; provide technical direction and feedback as appropriate.
- Participate in staff and Quality Improvement meetings; contribute to additional delegated business responsibilities or projects (e.g., evaluating new techniques, method comparisons, cost analysis, establishing reference ranges, updating procedures, productivity reporting).
- Collect and dispose of waste in proper receptacles. Maintain confidentiality with a high level of integrity.
- Provide guidance to unlicensed staff as required; maintain professional growth through continuing education aligned with California state licensure requirements.
- Answer phones, transfer calls, and take accurate messages; comply with all health and safety policies, use PPE as required.

Physical and Mental Requirements
- Lifting and carrying objects typically in the 1–50 lb range; heavier lifting requires assistance and is not performed alone.
- Repetitive tasks, frequent grasping, reaching, and fine manipulation; ability to sit or stand for long periods.
- Good hand-eye coordination; color vision testing may be required for certain technical functions.
