ResidentExperience & Activation Coordinator
The Activation Department has an opening for a Part-Time BSO/Activation Worker. The successful candidate must be able to meet the normal requirements of the job and possess the following qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY- Post‑secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university or enrolled in such a field, preferred.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge working with older adults with various forms of dementia, delirium, complex mental health, substance use, other neurological conditions, including those with or at risk of responsive behaviours;
- Specialized training in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA), U‑FIRST, PIECES, Montessori, Dementi Ability are an asset.
- Dementia, seniors care, positive approach to care related courses or certifications an asset or willingness to receive additional training;
- Experience in Activation programming as it relates to programs offered in long‑term care settings.
- Demonstrated ability to take professional accountability for leading, organizing, providing and delegating care activities for residents and families.
- Relevant clinical experience (3‑5 years) working with older adults and care partners in long‑term care and community settings.
- Knowledge of the Principles of Adult Learning and experience educating adults.
- Knowledge and understanding of pertinent legislation and policies, including the Fixing Long‑term care (FLTC) Act and regulations, the Personal Health Information and Protection Act (PHIPA, 2004), the Mental Health Act and other pertinent legislation.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience with electronic documentation, specifically the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) documentation, including assessments, Resident Assessment Protocols (RAPS), activity and care planning functions.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel, and management.
- Dependable with a verifiable acceptable attendance record.
- Proven ability to perform the essential duties of the position on a regular basis.

- Therapeutic activities are based on interest, need, and ability in cooperation with the interdisciplinary team and volunteers.
- Enhance the positive impact and spread of Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) strategies for one‑on‑one and group therapeutic modalities to address and prevent responsive behaviours, while adapting to individual changing needs.
