Overview
PET/CT Technologist role PET/CT technologists use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain the procedure and put them y ensure patient comfort, safety and satisfaction, interpret physician orders/instructions, and select imaging parameters to produce high-quality PET/CT images/studies to aid diagnosis and treatment. They may work across multiple environments including freestanding outpatient centers, mobile coaches, or hospital-based facilities, providing imaging care at different access points.
Responsibilities- Ensure patient safety through pre-screening for contraindications, aseptic injection technique, and radiation safety/regulations, including proper documentation and handling of radioactive materials/patients.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic PET/CT images.
- Communicate effectively with patients and radiologists.
- Train new technologists and/or PC staff.
- Troubleshoot the scanner, coach, and peripheral equipment (monitors, PACS, coils, etc.).
- High School Diploma or equivalent required;
Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred. - Certification in Nuclear Medicine by NMTCB or ARRT (N) required.
- State license, as required.
- CPR certification required.
- Valid state driver’s license, as applicable.
- 1-2 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies preferred.
- Ability to work at several locations; strong customer service and organizational/multi-tasking skills.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications.
- Local travel may be required.
- COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.

- Exposure to outside weather conditions when transporting patients on mobile units; exposure to radioactive isotopes and ionizing radiation; potential exposure to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
- More than 50% of the time: sit/stand/walk; repetitive movements; see, speak and hear for patient communication.
- Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel, crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift non-ambulatory patients for transfer or examination.
