Position

Harrington is seeking a Business Development Specialist – Municipal Water to accelerate growth in the municipal water sector. This role is responsible for developing new project opportunities, strengthening relationships with municipalities and engineering firms, and ensuring smooth project execution. As the subject matter expert for your region, you will connect customers, vendors, and internal teams to deliver value-added solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Business Development:
    Identify and qualify new municipal water projects through research, industry events, and lead platforms. Build and maintain a robust project pipeline aligned with growth targets.
  • Customer Engagement:
    Develop strong relationships with municipalities, contractors, and engineering firms to position Harrington as the preferred partner.
  • Opportunity Management:
    Lead qualification and pursuit strategies, coordinate proposals and submittals, and partner with vendors to secure product approvals.
  • Project Execution Support:
    Oversee handoff to execution teams, monitor timelines and milestones, and ensure compliance with municipal requirements.
  • Market Insights:
    Track competitor activity, analyze pipeline health, and provide updates to regional leadership. Share customer feedback and market trends to support strategy.
  • Partnership Development:
    Collaborate with vendor partners and internal teams to align on project strategies and long-term growth opportunities.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in business development, sales, or project management within waterworks, distribution, or related industries.
  • Knowledge of municipal water systems and project cycles strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and build relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with CRM systems and pipeline management tools.
