The mandate of this position is to oversee all plant maintenance activities through effective execution of maintenance activities, people development strategies & maintaining department budgets optimizing equipment efficiency at Riverside.

The goals of the position are:

  • of Equipment Failures and downtime and with a clear understanding root-cause analysis.
  • Attract, develop and retain Maintenance Technicians to become in-house technical experts for all equipment.>
  • Provide leadership to develop and continually improve the Maintenance function in a fast paced, fast growing, food manufacturing environment
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate and uphold Riverside’s Core Values.
  • Understand and enforce Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Understand and enforce Riverside’s Food Safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop annual maintenance budgets.
  • Development of annual maintenance priority objectives and vision.
  • Unplanned Maintenance
    • Lead the maintenance group to reduce unplanned equipment stoppages. Keep finger on the pulse of the production floor at all sites.
    • Ensure root cause analyses are completed, corrective actions are taken, corrective action information is passed down to Technician level (know/do/teach)
  • Planned/ Preventive Maintenance
    • Provide leadership to the team to Increase planned to unplanned hours to 70% planned.
    • Lead the team to develop, implement and continually improve Preventive Maintenance programs. Introduce strategies to incorporate Predictive methods.
  • Technical Skills Development for TEAM
    • Develop a skills development plan for the Technicians. Lead the Identification of knowledge gaps and implementation of training programs.
    • Provide mentorship and support to the Maintenance Coordinators and Maintenance Technicians to develop in-house technical experts for all the equipment.
  • Provide leadership to implement an effective Continuous Improvement Program. Promote ideas to be brought forward from the floor to support a Kaizen culture and drive towards Best-in-Class operating efficiencies.
  • Leadership
    • Provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to the Maintenance Team.
  • Asset Management
    • Support new equipment projects through design review and acceptance tests to ensure equipment is easy to operate and maintain
    • Verification of spare parts availability, timely training programs commissioning support for new equipment installations
  • Keeps the work atmosphere FUN by keeping it light and welcoming
  • Other duties as required

Education & Qualifications
  • 5 years or more supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering or technical field
  • Proven desire to learn best practices
  • PASSION for the food industry and the field of engineering
