Position Summary
California Baptist University, an evangelical Christian university affiliated with the California Southern Baptist Convention, invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑track faculty position in Chemistry beginning August 2026.
The appointment includes teaching primarily undergraduate Organic Chemistry courses (for both science and non‑science majors) and related chemistry courses. Additional lower and upper‑division Chemistry courses may be added based on the needs of the department and the applicant’s areas of expertise. Other duties include recruiting and advising undergraduate students in the Chemical Sciences, engaging with undergraduate students in original research, participation in departmental program assessment, and participation in other service to the University and department.
Candidates must embrace the mission of California Baptist University, and evidence a clear understanding of, and commitment to, excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service through the integration of Christian faith with learning.
The compensation for this appointment will range from $78,000 – $85,000 annually and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this faculty appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions.
QualificationsWhile candidates who have completed a Ph.D. in any area of Chemistry by August 2026 may be considered, strong preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or closely related disciplines and who have prior teaching experience.
Teaching ResponsibilitiesTeaching courses in Organic Chemistry, as well as lower and upper division Chemistry and related science courses based on the needs of the department and the applicant’s areas of expertise.
