Job DescriptionRiverside City College is seeking an Assistant Professor, Chemistry who will carry primary responsibility for lecture, laboratory and/or hybrid instruction in Chemistry courses at any level typically taught at the community college (Introductory GOB through Sophomore level Organic Chemistry). The ideal candidate will share RCC's and the Department of Chemistry's commitment to educating a racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse student population.
RCC enrolls over 30,000 students, the majority from racially minoritized populations. Hispanic/Latinx students comprise 60% of RCC's student population, 8% are African-American, 7% are Asian American, 0.3% are Native American, 0.7% are Pacific Islander, 21% are White, and 2% are multiracial. Riverside City College is a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution and a leader in the California Guided Pathways Project, dual enrollment, workforce preparation, and culturally responsive events and training for equity practices.
Education:
Master’s degree in chemistry; or Bachelor’s in chemistry or biochemistry and Master’s in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, or geochemistry; or equivalent, from accredited institutions.
Experience:
Minimum of one year of chemistry teaching experience; preference for community‑college level lecture and laboratory teaching and laboratory research experience at the Master’s or Doctoral level.
Technical
Skills:
Ability to use computers, software packages for modern curriculum, Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas), and to produce 508‑compliant materials. Experience with modern instrumentation used in chemistry labs is desired. An inquiry‑based and/or research skill development approach in the laboratory is desired.

- Ten‑month, tenure‑track position.
- Salary commensurate with academic preparation, range from Column C, Step 1 to Column H, Step 6 of the current Faculty Salary Schedule.
