About the job Safety Manager - Construction

Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager with a minimum of 5 years in safety management, specifically within civil construction projects encompassing concrete, underground utilities, and earthwork. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel on-site, implementing and enforcing safety protocols, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies tailored to civil construction projects.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, unsafe practices, and non-compliance issues.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to integrate safety into project planning and execution phases.
  • Provide ongoing safety training and education for all project personnel, emphasizing best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and provide thorough reports and recommendations for preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including training, inspections, and incidents.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety inquiries and concerns from both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to proactively mitigate risks and enhance safety performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management within civil construction, with a strong understanding of concrete, underground utilities, and earthwork.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CHST, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite; experience with safety management software is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving safety issues.
