Position Information
Under general supervision, the Contracts and Grants Analyst is responsible for performing pre and post-award research administration duties including but not limited to developing research proposals, managing awards, processing transactions related to contract and grant management, and maintaining contract and grant records in compliance with institutional and research sponsor policies. The Contracts and Grants Analyst will coordinate the submission of proposals to multiple agencies, including the development of multi-year budgets, where analysis of financial information requires review of a variety of factors (e.g. salaries, fringe benefits, expenses, etc).
Receives assignments on a project basis and fully analyzes problems, gathers data and information, and recommends solutions. Completes and approves transactions for signature by manager or other authorized institutional official. The Contracts and grants analyst will assist faculty in planning for the effective and appropriate use of all their funds; and ensure compliance with agency-specific terms and conditions, federal OMB circulars, and UC policy.
This position is designated as a Career Ladder recruitment, which means the hiring department can recruit and fill this role at different levels within the position classification series. Therefore, this position is currently posted as (RSCH ADM 2 Grade 20 Recruitment ) and (RSCH ADM 3 Grade 21 Recruitment ). The salary range for this position is $59,000 - $103,400 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $81,200 annually. We base placement within these ranges on the individual's qualifications as they relate to this position.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Experience
Experience
Requirement 2 - 4 years of related experience. Required Experience ensuring compliance with sponsor terms and conditions, University policies, and/or federal and state requirements for contracts and/or sponsored projects; submitting, reviewing and endorsing sponsored projects proposals; accepting awards that support sponsored projects; and preparing and issuing subawards. Preferred Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting contractual, legal, and/or regulatory language and requirements. Required Demonstrated specialized experience in contract and grant programmatic/budgetary analysis and reporting;
preparing fiscal and progress reports for submission to sponsor or review by management; and preparing periodic budget reports, conducting variance and other analyses, to ensure compliance with sponsor terms and conditions. Preferred Prior work experience in contract, grant, and/or sponsored funding administration or research administrative analysis.
Preferred Experience working in research administration at a university, specifically within a medical school, or a non-profit research institute or hospital. Preferred

Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Writing skils to draft persuasive text for variety of audiences.
Demonstrated ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA and FERPA.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer or other web browsers; experience with maintaining moderately complex databases.
Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate, using tact and diplomacy with internal and external campus community partners.
Ability to manage a high volume of transactions.
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
