Special Education Paraprofessionals; Grades 6-8

DuBois Integrity Academy is hiring Middle Grade Special Education Paraprofessionals for the  academic school year. DuBois Integrity STEM Academy’s academic program has two pillars that support substantial achievement improvement: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) combined with Blended Learning. We use theme-based, interdisciplinary, integrated curricula to facilitate instruction and learning. A combination of tightly-controlled behavioral studies and groundbreaking neurological research supports theme-based education as a means to improve the opportunities for success for all learners.

This position provides support to Special Education teachers and building administration in ensuring a safe and orderly learning environment. It maintains strict confidentiality regarding information concerning students, personnel, and other administrative matters that affect the district.

• Assists in the classroom at the direction of the teacher or administrator, when requested
• Provides supervision when students are outside at recess and inside during indoor recess by organizing activities and providing assistance when playing games; maintaining discipline, and monitoring student behavior.
• Assists with supervising students before the school day begins and at dismissal to ensure a smooth transportation process at the end of the day.
• Provides presence and coverage in the cafeteria by assisting and monitoring students during the lunch period; assists with cleaning the eating areas, such as wiping down tables, at the end of the lunch period; provides instructional computer assistance; and offers clinical aide assistance and personal care services.
• Provides coverage to the detention area and hallways as needed.
• During fire drills or other emergency evacuations of the school, the aide assists in ensuring a safe and orderly exit of the building.
• Assists in areas within the school building, including but not limited to the office, hallways, and restrooms.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Principal and/or Assistant Principals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to comprehend and follow directives
• Demonstrate knowledge of effective instructions, instructional delivery, classroom management and assessment

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education- High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification/License - Georgia PSC Instructional Aide certification required. Paraprofessional Assessment test or College coursework at a minimum of 60 semester hours, 90 quarter hours, or 1,000 clock hours, or Associates or higher degree.
