As a Health and Safety Specialist, you will inspect, evaluate, train and provide technical support for work crews to ensure compliance with Health and Safety program and agency regulations.
The Safety Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable safety regulations, company policies, and project-specific safety plans at construction sites. This role conducts inspections, identifies hazards, and works collaboratively with project teams to maintain a safe working environment for all employees, subcontractors, and visitors.

What you will be doing- Conduct routine and ad hoc safety inspections at construction sites to ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Identify hazardous conditions and unsafe behaviors; recommend corrective actions and follow up to ensure implementation.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents; assist in root cause analysis and report findings.
- Maintain accurate safety inspection reports, incident logs, and safety records.
- Assist in the development and implementation of site-specific safety plans.
- Support safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to promote safety awareness and reinforce safe work practices.
- Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and subcontractors to resolve safety issues promptly.
- Ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) is used correctly and is readily available.
- Monitor and support implementation of company-wide safety initiatives and best practices.
- Stay current with changes in safety laws and regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in occupational safety, construction management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of safety experience in a construction environment.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification required; additional certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR, CHST) a plus.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety practices, and industry standards.
- Strong observation and reporting skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse project teams and leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety reporting software.
