Job Summary
Under the guidance of the Expanded Learning Program Advisor and direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent Student Services & Interventions or Designee, the Expanded Learning Program Leader coordinates and facilitates academic and enrichment activities that support student learning and development. The role focuses on providing a safe, nurturing, and high-quality after-school program that fosters academic success, social-emotional growth, and physical well-being for students in grades TK-12.
EssentialFunctions Of This Position
- Student Supervision & Safety
:
Actively supervises students to ensure safety across program areas and during field trips; maintains a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment that promotes student engagement; enforces program rules and applies behavior management strategies effectively; ensures facilities and equipment are safe and properly maintained. - Instructional support & Academic Enrichment
:
Provides direct academic assistance, including tutoring, homework support, and small-group instruction; delivers or facilitates educational lessons and enrichment activities in areas such as arts, STEM, health/nutrition, and performing arts; implements learning activities that meet the developmental needs of students of varying ages and abilities; encourages student participation and fosters a growth mindset. - Program Coordination & Activity Leadership
:
Assists in planning, organizing, and leading a variety of academic, recreational, and enrichment activities; helps prepare materials and resources for lessons and projects; promotes positive youth development through structured games, arts and crafts, music, technology, and other enrichment opportunities; coordinates with site staff, parents, and volunteers to support program goals. - Communication & Collaboration
:
Maintains effective communication with parents, staff, and community partners regarding student progress and program updates; assists in parental notifications (written and verbal) and support community engagement; participates in meetings, training sessions, and professional learning opportunities to improve program quality and implementation; provides input to improve program strategies and student outcomes. - Administrative Support
:
Tracks and maintains accurate program records, including attendance, student progress, snacks, and fees, if applicable; assists with scheduling, facility setup, and other operational needs; uses technology and computer applications effectively for documentation and reporting.
- Minimum Qualifications
:
High school diploma or GED required. - Desired Qualifications
: AA degree or verifiable two years post-secondary education advanced education/ coursework;
One year experience in providing various methods of instruction, including direct instruction in an education environment.
- Completion of background check and TB clearance
- Principles of child growth, development, and behavior management.
- Effective instructional strategies and enrichment activity planning.
- Oral and written English usage, grammar, and mathematics;
Spanish communication skills desirable. - Cultural awareness and responsiveness to diverse student needs.
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
- Supervise and engage students in structured academic and enrichment activities.
- Organize time, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members.
- Use computer programs and technology proficiently for recordkeeping and instruction.
- Sit, stand, walk, and move about for extended periods.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 lbs. routinely, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally when assisting students.
- Bend, reach, and perform tasks requiring physical agility.
- Hear and speak clearly to exchange information and give instructions.
- See and read printed material and digital content with or without vision aids.
- Operate standard office and instructional equipment.
- Work indoors and outdoors, including exposure to various weather conditions
