Apprenticeship Coordinator

The Apprenticeship Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing management, compliance, and support of the college’s registered and non-registered apprenticeship programs. Serving as the central point of contact for employers, apprentices, and internal stakeholders, the coordinator ensures that apprenticeship programs are aligned with industry needs, institutional priorities, and state/federal guidelines. The role also supports the college’s pre-apprenticeship programs by establishing clear pathways from pre-apprenticeship to employment and further education.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in education, workforce development, career and technical education, business, or a related field is required; a Master’s Degree is preferred.

Experience

Has a minimum of two years of experience in the following areas: program coordination, workforce development, education, securing and maintaining employer partnerships, or related areas, along with a background in managing projects, grants, or community/industry initiatives. Experience working with diverse populations, including adult learners and underrepresented groups, is preferred.

Knowledge

Has knowledge of workforce development, career pathways, or employer-driven training initiatives, as well as familiarity with community college systems, higher education practices, or workforce/industry training models. Awareness of apprenticeship or work-based learning models is desirable.

Skills

Has demonstrated organizational and project management skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and timelines. Effective communication and relationship-building skills with employers, students, faculty, and community partners are essential, along with the ability to analyze data, track program outcomes, and prepare reports. Responsibilities
  • Administer daily operations of apprenticeship programs, ensuring compliance with Illinois Community College Board (ICCB) and U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) requirements.
  • Track Related Technical Instruction (RTI), On-the-Job Training (OJT) hours, and apprentice completion data using a CRM or apprenticeship management system where applicable.
  • Support all required State, Federal, and grant documentation, reporting, and audits.
  • Serve as a liaison for participating employers, guiding program expectations, mentor training, and compliance.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication with employer partners to ensure apprentices’ learning outcomes align with workforce needs.
  • Coordinate advising, academic success, and available support services to help apprentices persist and complete.
  • Provide or arrange for orientation and coaching for apprentices as appropriate.
  • Actively support the expansion of apprenticeship programs by helping to secure new apprenticeship opportunities with employers.
  • Collaborate with faculty and deans to align related instruction with program standards and industry requirements.
  • Work with Career Services to embed employability and career management skills into apprenticeship pathways.
  • Promote Credit for Prior Learning and stackable credential models for apprentices.
  • Partner with internal departments to create apprenticeship branding and promotional materials.
  • Represent the college in apprenticeship-related meetings, consortia, and industry round tables.
  • Collect and analyze outcome data for ICCB reporting and institutional improvement.
  • Raise the visibility of apprenticeship as a valued educational and workforce pathway.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Note:

    This is a grant funded position with a tentative end date of December 31, 2026.

    Compensation and Requirements
    • Annual base salary of $62,015 with full benefits package.
    • Official transcripts required prior to employment.
    • Candidate recommended for hire will be subject to pre-employment screenings.
