HOURLY RATE: $15.25
GENERAL SUMMARYAs part of the Division of Student Success and Engagement, the ADA Graduate Assistant provides administrative support and assists in implementing academic accommodations relating to testing and adaptive technology to ensure students’ access to academic courses and programming. As a liaison to the diverse DU student community, the ADA Graduate Assistant will assist with gathering, tracking, and presenting data on students’ use of ADA and other academic supports available through the Academic Success Center (ASC).
QUALIFICATIONS- Awareness and or desire to learn about accommodations and accessibility in the university setting
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to both follow and streamline or create processes
- Empathy and a well-developed ethical framework, particularly an awareness of the importance of confidentiality within the Accommodations and Disability Access office
- Previous experience working in a team environment
- Experience utilizing current technologies, i.e. Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Teams
- Willingness to learn new and adaptive technology such as Panopto, Kurzweil 3000, and others
- Ability to commit to regular work hours up to 20 hours per week
- Ability to work independently, be a “self-starter”, and meet deadlines without prompting
- Prepare and proctor exams in collaboration with the Academic Success Coordinator for students who have been approved to receive testing accommodations through ADA
- Maintain organization of the student case management files
- Fulfill all alternate text requests made by eligible students and email publishers as necessary to obtain alternate texts.
- Address inquiries from students, parents, and staff in a professional manner.
- Reserve classroom space and request technology for special programming.
- Gather, track, and assist in the development of innovative ways to share out aggregate data on student use of all ADA resources and support services
- Assign Kurzweil licenses and provide training to the DU community as necessary
- Provide front desk support including answering and directing calls to appropriate ASC staff and scheduling student appointments
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Enrollment in a Dominican University graduate program is required.
