Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a PACU RN with at least two years of recent specialty experience, a NM or compact RN license, and strong teamwork skills for a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the PACU of a hospital setting

• 10-hour day shifts, four days per week with varied scheduling

• Floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles is required

• Patient population includes post-anesthesia care and recovery cases

• EPIC EMR system is used on site and training is provided if needed

• Duties include direct patient care, assessment, care planning, medication administration, and documentation

• Responsibilities include coordinating care with the healthcare team, supervising LPNs and assistive staff, and educating patients and families

• Testing for BCA is conducted onsite during the first week of orientation; failure to pass results in dismissal

• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; locals are not eligible

• A one-year wait is required for former permanent staff to be considered again as a traveler

• Scrub color and dress code per facility standards

• RTO (time off) must be communicated clearly during the submission process

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required

• Minimum two years of current PACU RN experience required

• Completion of at least one previous 13-week travel assignment is required

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required

• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross)

• Must pass Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) testing during orientation; two attempts allowed

• English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing
