Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with an empathetic approach to patient care and exceptional client communication skills to join our dynamic team as an Admit/Discharge Nurse. You will be at the forefront of ensuring a seamless experience for our clients while upholding high standards of patient care.
Responsibilities- Patient Admissions: Admit cases, meet with clients and patients on arrival to discuss upcoming procedures, and ensure all necessary preparations are completed smoothly and in line with company SOPs.
- Discharge Support: Guide clients through patient care plans during discharge, including medication instructions, rehabilitation techniques, and aftercare details, addressing any questions to ensure they feel confident managing care at home.
- Client Communication: Act as a compassionate point of contact, keep clients informed on treatments and progress, and respond to questions about their pet’s care while in hospital.
SCVS is a specialist-led small animal hospital equipped with the expertise to support complex cases. As a large multidisciplinary referral hospital, we offer state-of-the-art facilities to provide outstanding treatment from initial consultation through to discharge. We are based in Ringwood, Hampshire, just off the A31. Our recent expansion includes a new purpose-built theatre complex, a two-storey facility with a large client reception and waiting area, 10 new consulting rooms, a rehabilitation centre, a new diagnostic suite, ICU area, and more.
We have an outstanding team of recognised specialists across multiple disciplines and a dedicated rehabilitation team providing physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to aid post-operative recovery. Our advanced nursing team delivers excellent care to all patients, with a team of veterinary care assistants to ensure patients feel reassured during their stay.
- You must be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse.
- This role suits a confident nurse who can coordinate the flow of patients into and out of the hospital from all disciplines.
- We are looking for a dynamic individual with high attention to detail and an empathetic approach to patient care.
- You should possess the confidence to take initiative and actively contribute to patient care.
- An interest in client liaison and wards nursing is essential.
- Previous experience in a referral practice is beneficial.
This role is 35 hours per week, with shifts of 7:00–18:30 Wednesday to Friday, plus 1 in 4 Saturdays 7:00–16:00.
