Position SummaryVirginia Transformer is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to serve as a critical technical liaison between engineering, manufacturing, sales, and customers. This role provides hands-on technical support across the lifecycle of custom power transformers — from proposal and design clarification through manufacturing support, testing, and field issue resolution.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while supporting both internal teams and external customers.
Key Responsibilities Technical & Engineering Support- Provide technical support for power transformer products, including design interpretation, specifications, and application guidance.
- Support internal teams with engineering clarifications related to drawings, bills of material, test requirements, and customer specifications.
- Assist in resolving technical issues during manufacturing, testing, or installation.
- Review customer inquiries and provide timely, accurate technical responses.
- Serve as a technical point of contact for customers, sales, and project management teams.
- Support pre- and post-order technical discussions to ensure alignment with customer requirements.
- Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, and issue resolution efforts as needed.
- Coordinate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve technical challenges.
- Review and support technical documentation, including drawings, test reports, specifications, and change requests.
- Ensure accurate documentation of technical issues, resolutions, and lessons learned.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring technical issues and recommending solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
, or a related technical field. - 2+ years of experience in a technical support, engineering, or manufacturing-related role.
- Strong understanding of electrical or mechanical systems; power transformer experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience in power transformers, electrical equipment, or heavy manufacturing
. - Familiarity with transformer testing standards and customer specifications.
- Experience supporting custom-engineered products.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environment.
