Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Human Resource Generalist is to provide support for employees and leaders in a plant environment and report to the plant HR Manager. The role partners with customers to coach, support, influence, and enable teams to effectively deliver people plans. This position participates in HR projects and ensures duties support plant safety, food safety, quality, and environmental practices, either personally or through other resources.

Accountabilities
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors; refer complex or sensitive matters to appropriate staff; complete unemployment and verification inquiries as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate hiring of qualified job applicants; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Assist in developing and executing hiring metrics and updating related reports; complete daily/weekly/monthly recruiting metrics and trackers.
  • Conduct orientation and on-boarding activities for new hires.
  • Manage timekeeping activities in Kronos; process plant payroll and submit information to corporate payroll processing.
  • Assist with administration of HR programs and provide additional support as requested.
  • Manage employee communication tools – bulletin boards and electronic boards.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR, talent management, and employment law.
  • Manage employee files and confidential information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Experience and Education
  • B.S. or B.A. degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.
  • 2+ years of increasing generalist responsibility within Human Resources in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing projects.

Work Environment And

Physical Requirements
  • Office-based role with periodic presence in a manufacturing environment where PPE is required.
  • Possible exposure to cold, wet, or humid conditions; production floor noise and moving machinery.
