Position Summary
John Paul II Catholic School is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and faith-filled Full-Time Latin Teacher to join our growing faculty. The ideal candidate will inspire students to appreciate the beauty, structure, and historical significance of the Latin language while supporting the classical foundations of Catholic education. This teacher will play a vital role in fostering academic excellence, cultural literacy, and a deeper understanding of Western civilization and the Church’s intellectual tradition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teach Latin courses appropriate to grade level and curriculum (e.g., introductory Latin through advanced levels, depending on program needs)
- Develop and deliver engaging, rigorous lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and school expectations
- Integrate Catholic identity, classical thought, and interdisciplinary connections into instruction
- Assess student learning through formative and summative evaluations and provide timely feedback
- Maintain accurate grade books, lesson plans, and student records
- Foster a classroom culture of respect, discipline, curiosity, and joy in learning
- Collaborate with department members and participate in curriculum development and alignment
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student progress
- Participate fully in faculty meetings, professional development, school liturgies, and community events
- Support school-wide initiatives, activities, and student life as needed
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Latin, Classics, Education, or a related field
- Strong command of Latin grammar, vocabulary, and translation
- Passion for teaching and working with middle and/or high school students
- Willingness to support and uphold the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church
- Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Latin, Classics, Education, or a related field
- Teaching certification (or eligibility)
- Prior experience teaching Latin at the middle or high school level
- Familiarity with classical education models and/or Catholic school settings
- Strong classroom presence and effective communication skills
- Organized, reflective, and committed to professional growth
- Collaborative team player with a servant-leader mindset
- Enthusiastic about contributing to a vibrant, faith-filled school community
