Unexploded Ordnance Technician III (Finance)
Job Summary:The Technician will perform reconnaissance and classification of UXO, identification of U.S. and foreign guided missiles, bombs, and bomb fuses, projectiles and projectile fuses, grenades and grenades fuses, rockets and rocket fuses, land mines and associated components, pyrotechnics, military explosives, and demolition materials.
This technician will locate subsurface UXO using military and/or civilian magnetometers, perform excavation procedures on buried UXO by manual and mechanical means, and perform operator maintenance of military and/or civilian magnetometers.
They will also locate surface UXO using visual means, operate motor vehicles transporting UXO, prepare on-site safe holding areas, store UXO and demolition materials, and prepare UXO disposal sites. Responsibilities include preparing non-electric firing systems, electric firing systems, and detonating cord firing systems for UXO disposal operations.
The technician will dispose of UXO/explosives by burning and/or detonation, operate personnel decontamination stations, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment in contaminated areas.
Additional duties include inspecting salvage UXO-related materials, erecting UXO-related protective works, determining magnetic azimuths, performing field expedient identification procedures for explosive-contaminated soil, emergency leak sealing and packaging of chemical warfare materials, and using radiographic equipment.
Experience/Education Required:
- High School Diploma
- 6-8 years related experience
- Ability to maintain a driver's license and clearance
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
